The economic and social disruption caused by the pandemic is devastating: tens of millions of people are at risk of falling into extreme poverty, while the number of undernourished people, currently estimated at nearly 690 million, could increase by up to 132 million by the end of the year. But we are here to also discuss the positive impacts of covid 19 that has taken place in peoples lives and in the environment

WORK FROM HOME

As we’ve long known, remote work has a host of advantages for workers. We’re listing out the best of the best benefits of working from home—some you may already be aware of, and some that may open your eyes even more to remote work’s impact on employers, employees, the economy, and the planet. 1.  Better Work-Life Balance Many remote jobs also  come with flexible schedules , which means that workers can start and end their day as they choose, as long as their work is complete and leads to strong outcomes. This control over your work schedule can be invaluable when it comes to attending to the needs of your personal life. Whether it’s dropping kids off at school, running some errands, attending an online fitness class in the morning, or being home for a contractor, these tasks (and more!) are all easier to balance when you work from home. 2.  Less Commute Stress The average  one-way commuting time in the U.S.  is 27.1 minutes—that’s nearly an hour each day...

ENERGY

A substantial decline in energy was observed in countries that followed complete or partial lockdown . Specifically, this was caused by total lockdown in India, the USA, China, and Italy, where all industries were closed during the first and second phases of lockdown . For example, electricity consumption declined to almost 30% in Italy after 40 days of lockdown. Similarly, electricity consumption declined by 15% in France, 12% in Germany, 15% in Spain, 20% in India, and 16% in the UK. Overall, electricity demand during COVID-19 was at least 10% lower in comparison to pre-COVID-19 times.   Energy reduction is explained by lockdowns  Whereas 5–50% higher energy consumption has been observed in hospitals from 216 affected nations from mid-March 2020 to mid-April 2020, energy consumption has decreased in other sectors. Indeed, a reduction of about 25% on the average in weekly energy consumption has been noticed in 30 fully locked down nations up to mid-April 2020. This energ...

TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORT

The covid 19 pandemics has proved that the traffic and transport has been heavily affected. Transport and mobility of passengers are some of the most vulnerable aspects of the COVID-19 period. In particular, declines in commercial flight operation, demands of urban transport, public transport usage, and generally passenger transport, were the adverse impacts of the COVID-19 period on transportation. Also, freightage transit has been affected. On the other hand, these events have led to positive effects on the environment because of less energy demand in the transportation sector. Air traffic and public transport demand declined 90% and 80%, respectively, in Europe, and Road traffic fell down by 73% in the UK. Even remote working has had positive effects on the environment by reducing transport emissions. Working from home less traffic pollution and commuting without harming the economy. Travel and economic activities have been drastically reduced because of lockdown measures worl...

ENVIROMENT

This article shows that the lockdown has induced numerous positive impacts on the environment and on energy consumption . Air pollution quality Air pollutants such as NO 2 , SO 2 , O 3 , CO, and particulate matter pose serious health risks. The WHO estimates that 7 million people die from air pollution each year, more than half these deaths being due to ambient in air pollution. Long-standing exposure to fine PM with a diameter lower than 2.5 µm, and O 3 , is estimated to cause around 8.8 million deaths every year  Exposure to NO 2  alone results in 4 million new pediatric asthma cases annually  A major and immediate positive effect of COVID-19 lockdown has been the substantial reduction in air pollution worldwide, notably in major industrialized countries. The closure of factories and transportation networks, the largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the United States, resulted in a 5–10% decrease in air pollutants, including CO 2 . China's heavy industrial zones a...

Realization about the covid 19 situation

The covid 19 pandemics has made humanity realize a lot of things, for example how we took daily interaction for granted, basic hygiene for granted, family time for granted, etc. when we all got the task of staying at home and going through the lockdown in different countries, we all realized how much we have missed going out, for work, school or just for as an entertainment purpose. seeing and interacting with your co-workers or your friends has been missed a lot. a lot of people were stuck during the lockdown away from their families, making them realize what the true importance of family is, how we miss being around them.
